01:11 PM ET 04.19 | New details have emerged from Local 6 Sports Director David Pingalore's Monday report that Orlando Magic superstar Dwight Howard no longer wants to play for head coach Stan Van Gundy. Pingalore has learned Wednesday from multiple NBA and team sources that Howard called Magic Owner Rich DeVos Friday night, telling the 86-year-old that he will no longer play for head coach Stan Van Gundy. Pingalore was told through sources that have direct knowledge of the call that it was taken in the DeVos suite at Amway Center by DeVos sometime during the Magic's game with the Atlanta Hawks. According to the sources, Howard is still upset with Van Gundy, confirming Pingalore's report from earlier this month that Howard went to Magic management asking for Van Gundy to be fired. Sources confirm the call to DeVos came after Howard visited Los Angeles to get diagnosed for his sore back.

Howard is getting really, really bad advice. REALLY bad advice.
Supposedly, he doesn't want to look like a bad guy. That's why he committed to staying in Orlando for one more year, right? But everything he does makes him look more and more like a spoiled, petulant man-child.
He might as well embrace the dark side now, because he's definitely going to be the villain in this little melodrama.

Van Gundy may be a goon, but Howard is one spoiled brat.

Wow after this season all I can think is Dwight all the attention Lebron was getting last year by being hated by so many and was like "I could be more of a **** then Lebron. I can stretch out my drama more then 2 season." Sick and tired of hearing his drama, Byrum is better then him anyway.

And a 6 letter word that starts with "re" is not a swear word SI, it's actually a medical term. in that context it ant flattering, but none the less a medical term.

The Magic need to regroup, new system new coach new management. This team is not setup to go very far in the playoffs even if everyone was healthy.

Here is what I find interesting...
Will Howard come out of this drama with an image worse or better than LeBron did?
Howard wanted to be dealt and didn't get dealt. Then the guy finally signs a 1yr extension which to me looks like a quick money grab. Then, he wants Stan Van Gundy gone and ESPN/Everybody is reporting that he will not play again for Stan through the playoffs...if this is true, it makes him a massive jerk.
LeBron at least was a free agent and flat out told the Cavaliers he was testing free agency. Granted, the whole "decision" thing was stupid but at least LeBron did not quit on his team or coach. And LeBron took LESS money to play in Miami with Bosh and Wade.
If the NBA structured contracts like the NBA, Howard would be cut in a split second and sent on his way. Because the money is guaranteed, now he is making demands of the team that I would not honor.
Stan Van Gundy is a good coach and Howard is a good player. Good players are easier to find than good coaches, especially in the NBA.
If I am Orlando, I deactivate him for the season (like Lamar Odom) and trade his ass. Get high draft picks or star players in return but I would be done with this bozo.

You left out one possibility: Everyone will dislike them equally. Put my money on that option.

Dwight Howard is becoming the Terell Owens of the NBA. They think they are they are above the team... Who would want to have Dwight Howard now that he has shown he is such a whiner?

if this report is true. I expect the Magic to trade him at the end of the season.

Would be messed up if he is able to play but still refuses. All this griping he does about Orlando, but they are a solid playoff bound team. Why be such a cancer? It's still not excusable, but would be more understable if he was on the Hornets or something.
