Golson on the cusp of taking over at ND

08:18 AM ET 04.20 | This is a big weekend for Notre Dame QB Everett Golson. Every quarterback involved in the battle for the starting job will be watched closely on Saturday when the Fighting Irish stage their Blue-Gold game. But Golson is the one I've been most intrigued by because he possesses the perfect skill set for this offense. The rising sophomore has the athletic ability to give the offense a look it hasn't seen since Carlyle Holiday was in South Bend. His biggest issue is accuracy through the air. But if he doesn't turn the ball over, he could have a real chance to win the job. Kelly has maintained that the top criterion for the starting job is taking care of the football. Thus, incumbent Tommy Rees has work to do.

So ND has a few good QB's on the roster and one is slightly ahead of the others before the season starts. What's different now from exactly one year ago?

Tinny said he's gonna be there. Taking a bicycle trip to Knoxville.

I've never been to one. That trend will continue tomorrow.

I will, however, be participating in the Rugged Maniac tomorrow. Fun stuff there...

FIFY WPS...before OT wakes up and gets a chance to chime in.

looking back, with the sheer amount of NFL talent UTk had in the late 90's, early 2000's they should have won 4 or 5 titles.

Just shows you how poor of a coach Phil was...and probably still is (watch out Arky)

Arky should heed the warning of UTk fans and do the interim thing for a year before finding a new coach.

OSU=Wait a year, land Meyer
UTk= Hire a coach in a week, get a 4-8 WAC coach, who often mistakes 13 for 11.

I agree....which is why I am campaigning for VHF to be atheletic director at Arky. Got a feeling Long may be about tired of this gig. Drove by his house this AM and for the 5th straight day had a cop car parked in his driveway.....bet he's getting tired of the spotlight.
