The next stop for Mr. Almost Perfect, Armando Galarraga?

08:16 AM ET 04.20 | The Marlins aren't desperate for starting pitching, but an intriguing proposition has been floated. Ozzie Guillen has a lot of friends throughout baseball and one of them -- the agent of 30-year old Venezuelan right-hander Armando Galarraga -- recently reached out to Guillen to see if the Marlins might have any interest in signing him. You remember Galarraga. Two summers ago with the Tigers he retired the first 26 hitters he faced against the Indians, but his bid for a perfect game was ended one out short when first base umpire Jim Joyce incorrectly ruled that Jason Donald reached first base safely on a ground ball. Galarraga instead finished with a one-hit shutout in a 3???0 victory.

His career seemed to take a nosedive right after that game too.

I'm sure there's almost no other actual Marlins fans who read these, but where does Galarraga fit in here? Unless Zambrano falters, there's really no need at all for another starting arm, and this guy, aside from pitching the perfect game, has done nothing at all. Anibal Sanchez has been really good since last season. In short, what's the point?

You're right about that. I'm not sure I would have handled it that well. It might have had a lot to do with how legitimately shaken the ump was.

he wasn't very good in the 1st place, the near perfect game was an anomaly.

He's only had one good season in the majors, and that was back in 2008. With the exception of the near perfect game, he's since been forgettable.
