08:25 AM ET 04.20 | On the face of things, Braden Holtby has been the story of the Bruins-Caps series, but Claude Julien had another take. "[You] also have to look in the mirror and tell yourself what didn't we do? It's the same old story. I think we did a lot of good things tonight, had a lot of chances and a lot of shots, but until we are ready to pay a real price in front of the net and win those battles and stay there." ... "We had a lot of shots, but as far as high-quality scoring chances I wouldn't say we got a lot of those," [Tim Thomas] told reporters in Washington. "If you're going to get those shots and get pucks to the need you need people in front of the net screening, tipping and getting rebounds. That's seems to be our problem."

Hmmm, didn't I say that early in the series?

Big guns don't work when you can actually see them from far away

Wonder if bgm thinks 1 goal on 45 shots is being lit up. I swore he told us to watch it was going to happen. Holtby is keeping this one sided series even. Boston better figure out a way to beat him or they will be watching the rest of the playoffs.

The players that you would expect to step up in this series just haven't made any impact at all.

The problem is they DID figure out how to beat him in game 3. If I remember correctly all 4 goals came about because of traffic in front of him. Holtby spent the entire game pushing Bruins in front of him and trying to look around them. Throw Chara in front of the net like they did against Tampa last year in the ECF; Holtby won't push him out of the way or look around him too easily. Lucic appears to be lost out there and is giving up way too many turnovers.

That was fan goggles at its absolute worst.

Then again, the guy literally spent the season saying "PLAYOFFS! B's will show up in the PLAYOFFS!" and, well, they haven't.

Not much of a story here. Everybody can see that Boston has been pretty complacent about crashing the front of the net and making Holtby deal with more traffic.

Analysts this morning were trying to make it sound like he wasn't "pumping" Holtby's tires the way he wasn't "pumping" Luongo's..

Sounds like Timmy is calling out his team. He's probably still pissed they went to the White House.

.....and the first White House comment of the morning. A new game will be starting up with the next FN post that mentions Thomas.

Won't mean much if their playoffs end next week.
