Broncos expressed interest in Samuel

08:55 AM ET 04.20 | The NFL can teach teams harsh lessons, something the Broncos learned in their defensive backfield this past season. After the likes of Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers taught them in 2011 that an NFL team can't have enough quality cornerbacks, the Broncos have expressed interest in acquiring Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Asante Samuel, according to two NFL sources. However, the Broncos no longer believe they can strike a deal, even though trade talks advanced to the stage where the team presented two proposals -- one for a late-round draft pick and the other involving a player. It is well known the Eagles have been trying to deal Samuel, a four-time Pro Bowler, before the NFL draft begins Thursday.

A late round pick. It is a salary dump.

The problem seems to be Samuel's high salary, he would be a plus for most teams out there..

But Andy's looking for gift certificates to Golden Corral.

I'd like to see what he could put away at White Castle.

The castle and the moat.

Don't like him, hope the Eagles get rid of him but.....he would be an upgrade for the Broncos and this division isn't banging with top QB's.

This might be the next "Dream Team". Signed: V. Young.

Any deal should include getting Brian Dawkins back in Philly.

I wonder why the Patriots, who have been hurting for DBs since Samual left, allowed him to go to Philly? Wasn't it right after he led the league in ints or something? He must have been a square peg in a round hole for the to allow him to leave. And now, the same thing is happening in Philly. He has the talent but the teams just don't want him.

How much of a diva might he be? That might make BB and Andy Reid make frequent late night Taco Bell runs.

New England didn't let Asante Samuel leave because he didn't fit in with their team. They let him leave because he didn't fit into their budget.

Those are two completely different things.
