09:53 AM ET 04.21 | Detroit Red Wings captain Nicklas Lidstrom reiterated that he will not make a decision on his future for several weeks after his team was eliminated in the playoffs. Following the 2-1 loss to the Predators at Bridgestone Arena, Lidstrom said he will decompress, then sit down with general manager Ken Holland and "go over things. So I'll see what he wants to do and what time table he'll give me to make a decision." The Wings want Lidstrom back, and would like to know his decision by some time in June, before free agency begins. Lidstrom turns 42 in one week, but he remains an elite player, one whom coach Mike Babcock can't picture retiring.

No surprise here that the Predators eliminated the Wings...

Lidstrom, being Scandanavian, will take his time like Teemu, Mats and Forsberg in making a decision, yet won't be criticized.

Hope he sticks around!

That's good for him, but I think the "Will he or won't he?" threads will get a bit tiresome.

GO PREDS.

I get a feeling that he will come back for one more. Being the rock of a team that has been so good for so long, it must suck making an exit after a 1st round disappointment like that.

I sort of feel the same about Brodeur. I think that if he manages to get by the first round his ego may be satisfied and he will make an exit...but if he drops the series (especially in a 7th game), I could see him coming back. Nobody wants to go out on that note.

But Ive been wrong before and I will certainly be wrong again...this is just how I see it.

As opposed to the "Did Crosby floss this morning?" threads. :)

Well, now I know why I don't but lotto tickets. Never saw the Wings, Hawks, Canucks and Pens play so poorly. My adopted Yotes are doing fine, might get out of the 1st round finally.

No surprise here with the Wings (picked the Preds in that one - the Wings are not the Wings that everyone remembers from years back - easy to see the last few years in the playoffs) and the Hawks are all about the tending...that's why they say the sport of hockey could also be called goalie.
