Kobe downplays shot at scoring title

08:14 AM ET 04.22 | The carrot remains dangling there for Kobe Bryant to grab. With two regular-season games left, the Lakers star has a legitimate shot to grab the NBA's scoring title. He leads the league with an average of 27.89 points, while Thunder forward Kevin Durant strails with 27.79 points. A significant performance for Bryant in the Lakers' game Sunday against the Thunder would widen the gap and lead to ongoing commentary on how he's beating Father Time in his 16th NBA season. But he maintains that hardly sounds enticing. "Not very important," Bryant said as he stared down at the ground in response to what it would mean at this stage of his distinguished career.

Of course he wants it.

The lakers should slip to the 4th seed, because it looks like the Spurs are gonna hold on to that 1st spot. The Lakers would want Spurs rather than the Thunder in the 2nd round

Picture Kobe not wanting to add another award to his resume. Nothing has ever changed with Kobe's ego or his desire to be viewed as this breathtaking alpha superdog to be talked about in everyone's home for the next 40 years. I mean really.......picture Kobe not wanting something to make him look great! Its a complete waste of time trying to imagine this.

QUOTE(#14):

Why? You think the Grizzlies are too easy to put out in the first round? The Lakers will lose to the grizzlies if they meet. Memphis is too deep and play great defense. Memphis is a very bad matchup for the Lakers.

Okay Nostradamus, you know it all. Can you give me next weeks Big Ten lotto numbers?

The truth is, that he is obviously getting back into playing shape, he is rusty. So its more of an excuse when Durant passes him up. But maybe we can take someones word for it at this point in his career. He doesnt really have that many regular season titles anyways. 2 scoring titles and one MVP.

Kobe wants rings more than anything else. He might not get the scoring title this season, but if he stays healthy I will not be surprise to see him pass MJ, Kareem and Malone and the most points ever.
