Harmon critical of Haney's book

10:04 AM ET 04.22 | Butch Harmon can't go anywhere these days without someone asking him about Hank Haney's current best-selling book, "The Big Miss," about Haney's six years working with Tiger Woods. Up until now, Harmon has kept his thoughts to himself. So what did he think of the book? "I'm very surprised that he would write it," Harmon said this week. "I'd never do that to Tiger or Greg [Norman] or any of the guys I've been with. We get to spend a lot of time with these people, sometimes even more time than their own families. Things are said, or you see different things, and it's just???it is what it is, you just leave it where it belongs. I was really shocked to see him talk about Elin and Tiger's kids and stuff like that, I don't think that had any place in it." He went on: "It almost seems the way he has everything documented in there - too many times and dates and places that you wouldn't come up with from memory - it's like he kept precise notes all along with writing a book in mind."

I guess it's human nature to want to become a celebrity when you spend so much time with them. I'm with Butch on this one, if Tiger thought he was speaking in confidence, Haney should have respected that.

You've basically hit the nail on the head. The media is too shallow to bother writing about anything else. Old story. If Jesus were a golfer today and good, do you think Morfit & Co., would be writing about anyone else? I wonder if Jesus would throw his clubs. I don't think he'd be as good at it as showboat.

I caught that too. If you scan the sports blurbs on all the network sites, not a mention of Curtis. If Showboat is a factor, they mention it. Or, if it's Phil. Anyone else and they don't bother. It doesn't matter if it's ABC, NBC, CBS or USAToday. I'm convinced that these websites are maintained by pimple-faced 15 year olds who, naturally, know nothing.

Yeah, I think about that too. If Helen went back and read the story lines that were written about him he would think he was Sitting Bull. You want a good read or listen, pick up "Last Stand". It's available on CD. My wife and I listened to it on the way down to Florida last week. If you really want to know about Custer and what happened, it's worth it. Very illuminating.
