Latest Cuban rant rips NBA's Olympic 'mistake'

08:10 AM ET 04.23 | Mark Cuban believes something is profoundly wrong with Team USA, and it has nothing to do with the roster. Does he think the U.S. Olympic basketball team is a shambles? "I hope so," the Dallas Mavericks owner told FOXSports.com. "Maybe that'll be my next business. F--- up the Olympics." Here we go again with Cuban. The NBA stocks the U.S. Olympic team with stars, and will again this summer at the London Olympics. ... Now Cuban seems to want to be paid, too, for turning over his players? By the time he was done, you couldn???t help but to think he is one cynical SOB. You always realized that he was just telling a cold truth about the Olympic spirit and ideal. "It's the biggest mistake the NBA makes," he said.

Very much so. Same with soccer team owners whose players play 13 times a year for their national squads and half the time come back injured. They have a compensation scheme nowadays, but it's minimal in value and it doesn't make up for losing a star.

Well its not madatory that any player plays the Olympics. Dont want to risk injury or not get paid.. then dont play. Cuban's wrong and should have said no comment. Soo un-american.

Anything that makes Cuban unhappy is a good thing.

"Maybe that'll be my next business. F--- up the Olympics." He didn't say he was protecting his business, he said he wants to f up the US Olympic team... and that's NOT un-American? Curious indeed...

That's exactly it. Cuban and the beginning of this thread is exactly what America has become. Enjoy your business, I mean country.

Might want to dig a little deeper there, Champ.

Cuban has railed about this for years...primarily as it dealt with his best player - a German.

This isn't about anything other than the Olympics making a big bag of money from the fact that the national basketball teams are full of NBA players and the Olympics have ZERO liability while the owners of the teams who employ said players assume ALL liability.

Look at the TV ratings and see what draws during the Olympics... Gymnastics, Track & Field and BASKETBALL.

The un-american part is not wanting your country to be property represented and suceed. And you are right.. he is looking for his own interests and investments.. I guess that is american...

are NHL players asking to be paid (no)...i believe that the US could win with collegiate players as was done in years past. NBA players and owners go on with your money grubbing selves.
