08:30 AM ET 04.23 | Golf season, at least metaphorically, has arrived to Detroit, where the Red Wings are left to take stock of their roster. It's no secret the Red Wings are interested in New Jersey's Zach Parise, who stands to be one of the biggest names available come July 1. He can demand a raise over the $6 million he made this season, and he'd be a fantastic fit on the left side of Datsyuk, giving Datsyuk the support the Wings feel he lacked in the playoffs. Parise, 27, has topped 30 goals in five of the last six seasons. Other forwards who could be available July 1 include Nashville's Andrei Kostitsyn, Phoenix's Shane Doan, Calgary's Olli Jokinen and Anaheim's Saku Koivu. Teemu Selanne will either re-sign with Anaheim or retire.

The Wings don't need to add senior citizens like Doan or Selane. They hve enough of them as it is. They need to get younger, tougher and faster.

Parise, Suter (and/or Weber) fit the bill.

I'm not sold on Nash, though. I'd rather have Iginla.

You've gotta give the man points for having a sense of humor.

He won't go to Detroit. He wants a chance to win and Detroit is aging pretty fast, just like the Devils. I can see Suter going there, especially if #5 retires

I was surprised at how slow they looked with Nashville

I can't wait to see what the Wings end up doing. They are a very respectable franchise who insist on being contenders every year.

Age is a rude thing.

If the Flyers D continues to underwhelm in the post season, I can see Homer making a push for Suter.

either way Parise is exciting to watch........and NJD will continue the tradition of restocking with fine young talent

April 23, 2012  11:36 AM ET

Bunch of old retreads. Better off bringing up the young dudes and giving up a year while they mature. Sick of some of the old farts that the Wings have signed in the last couple years.

Funny how everyone goes on about first round picks, Detroit has only kept 4 of their first round picks since the lockout. In fact, since the lockout their drafting record as a whole hasn't been too impressive.

It never seems that way, but their AHL team is stocked well and the guys they brought up during the season were good overall. Mostly, they just need their ability rounded out before coming up.

But they are raiding Europe and taking their best players before anyone else has a chance to see them ;)

We need a goalie, dammit.

Younger and faster would help too.

it doesnt help that alot of other teams are encroaching on their turf & have studied the way the Wings analyze talent.

I think that since the lock-out the best drafting team has been the Sharks. Forgetting playoff success & what not, they have managed to produce alot of very good young talent despie not having good picks.
