08:13 AM ET 04.24 | Amid reports that the pitcher went AWOL, Dontrelle Willis and the Orioles appear to be at a standoff. Executive vice president Dan Duquette has no plans to release Willis. Willis has no plans to report to Triple-A Norfolk, the team he left on Friday before learning that the Orioles placed him on the restricted list. The Orioles claim that Willis didn't have permission to leave. Willis and his agent, Matt Sosnick, say that's not the case. ... [Said Willis:] "I thought it was a mutual parting of ways. It's one of those things where, if he had told me he was putting me on the restricted list, I wouldn't have left. I didn't grab my book bag and run out of the class. I'm almost dumbfounded. I'm not even upset."

Strange events, then again the O's have made some strange moves the past few years and Willis has done his share of quirky things as well.

It is unfortunate that Willis has become such a headcase. He was such a good pitcher for a few years and then *boom* he becomes a shell of his former self.

This will distract from the ongoing soap opera that is our 2012 Boston Red Sox

Hopefully, but I won't count on it. You'd think that the Ryan Braun steroids tour would help ease the pain, but that hasn't either.

Neither of those two players are with organizations which have major national exposure. The Red Sox on the other hand of course do...

There are way too many moving parts in his delivery. He was never a sustainable pitcher.

I'm kind of surprised that he's never been able to straighten out his pitching mechanics.

Exactly. there isn't a pitching coach out there that can help him put it back together.

Willis = DONE, like years ago.

Orioles = DONE, like decades ago.

I guess it was a great match.
