If true, allegations could decimate Loomis

08:05 AM ET 04.24 | The Saints may be wounded right now, but Tom Benson is reportedly standing by his man. Although it would be fair to suspect that [Mickey Loomis] has been under some sort of double-secret probation after allowing Benson's franchise to be so badly damaged by the bounty scandal, nothing could be further from the truth. By all accounts, Benson's loyalty to Loomis is as strong as it has ever been. ... A source said Benson was so adamant to defend Loomis and his organization Monday that he instructed a team of attorneys to pursue a lawsuit against ESPN. ... Simply put, they can't afford for a story like this to be true. In the wake of the bounty investigation, another scandal would decimate Loomis' job security.

This story is true. There is way too much details, more than the bounty scandal.

The ESPN story said unnamed parties had reported the Saints to the FBI this past Friday. The FBI confirmed they were aware of allegations against the Saints. I don't see a lawsuit there.

If I'm a manufacturer of encrypted wireless headsets, I would be contacting the NFL right now. I guess each team will need to bring their own encrypted comm gear to games to keep this from happening.

More draft picks need to be forfeited if this is true, as well as fines, and a full season suspension for Loomis.

Yeah god forbid that anyone in the NFL should try to use some form of electronic spying to gain an unfair advantage.

This makes "spygate" look like chicken feed. ESPN would have cleared the story through their legal department before airing. The last thing in the world the Saints want is litigation that will bring these facts front and center, so the lawsuit will never happen. Besides, this is not a jury reasonable doubt issue it is a what does the commissioner think issue. This is the worst NFL story in my memory and I go back a long ways. If I were Drew Brees, I'd be making plans to leave NO as soon as possible. It's getting ugly on Bourbon Street!

Decimate?
That means, literally, to remove one tenth of something. Is this a new weight-loss program? They could decimate me and I'd still be overweight.
