08:06 AM ET 04.24 | Count Kevin Durant among those who believe in King James. LeBron James' closest competitor for the 2012 NBA Most Valuable Player award says the Miami Heat star deserves to win it. "He deserves all the love (for MVP)," said [Durant]. "He's playing phenomenal basketball. I'm just trying to get better every single game and trying to help my team as much as I can. I'm just blessed to be in that conversation." In his fifth season, Durant has strung together his best year, averaging 27.9 points, eight rebounds and 3.5 assists while shooting 49.7 percent from the field. But, thanks to James, it might not be enough. James is averaging 27.1 points, 7.9 rebounds and 6.2 assists while shooting 53.1 percent.

Why does the media continue to call him "King"? He has no championship or nba finals. He does not rule anything besides hiding in the 4th. The media are the last people left on his planet still calling him "King".

KD always elect to defer..........don't know if this is good or bad.

Lebron doesn't deserve it. His numbers are inflated because of Wade & Bosh... it's like playing in D'Antoni's system. If Durant or Kobe played alongside Bosh & Wade they'll be doing things we can't imagine. I for one favor Kobe for the award this year. The way he's been able to steer past all their drama into relevance this year is remarkable. Add his fourth quarter prowess and you got your REAL MVP. Lebron took the easy path.

There's no lying Lebron is the best regular season player the league has ever seen... the playoffs is just not his thing. Especially when it gets tight in the fourth quarter...

So explain how he was putting up the same numbers while he was in Cleveland?? He didn't have Wade an Bosh back then.

I'm still going to say Lebron is not going to get MVP in any year while he is with the Heat.

You do realize that he put those numbers up in Cleveland also...but oh yeah your such a HATER that you cant see the facts. Ignorance drips out of you in every quote you leave.

And where did that get Cleveland... where has that gotten Miami? He had a very decent team in Cleveland especially that last season... they were a true championship but because of his disdain for the owner he intentionally played to lose in the Boston series... go back and check the team he played with... they were loaded. For a Cleveland fan it's hurtful to see your own do you like that...

When things get tight so does LeBron.

Yupp... Partly due to arrogance and what his momma did at the last MVP party. I think the writers and sportscasters will not vote Lebron for MVP in the supreme interest of preventing another Lebron MVP party.

On the real though I think the real reason Lebron won't win MVP is his ego. He's already gone on record saying it'll be a real honor to win his third MVP. I mean Kobe and Durant are better players but have you heard them campaign for themselves?

That kinda me me me attitude is why he shouldn't win it.

Going back to your comment, you said his stats inflated because of Wade and Bosh. We are not talking about anything else besides his stats. Lebron has always manage to put up those numbers with a team filled with scrubbs. And Cleveland has never been a serious contending team, you saw what happend when he left and the team tanked. You know can tell how good the team is once their star player leaves or sits out of games.

Will This be another season of him winning MVP and NOT winning the Title????
