08:10 AM ET 04.25 | Alfonso Soriano isn't hitting well, and he's worse so far this season with runners on base, which is a bad combination for holding his spot in the order. [Soriano] is hitting .200 with no extra base hits in the Cubs' first 17 games, batting mainly in the clean-up spot. Manager Dale Sveum inserted Soriano into the No. 5 hole on Tuesday between Bryan LaHair and Ian Stewart, but doesn't plan on dropping him any lower in the order. "I think he's still the threat," Sveum said. "I'm not going to move him down anytime soon, that's for sure. ... When all is said and done he'll end up with his 25-30 home runs and we'll all look back at this and laugh at it." Soriano is hitting .182 against right-handers, and .158 with runners in scoring position.

Soriano still thinks it's Spring Training!!!!!

I don't see the Cubs making any kind of a turnaround until they are rid of this load.

I gotta agree with The Bishop. If they're serious about house-cleaning, Soriano has got to go, even if the Cubs (inevitably) swallow a good portion of his obscene contract. If he DOES get his stroke back, perhaps an AL team in need of a DH could use him ...

This week starring at the Improv.. Dale Sjwelkj, wait Dale Svmwlekjkljmn, ok Dale Svmeweus... Dale's so funny that even his last name is good for joke (and that this time, that might be the only thing he's good for).

How many years left on his contract?

What good is he as a DH if he isn't hitting?

Sveum likes Marmol as his closer, too. The Cubbies just keep getting funnier.

April 25, 2012  06:37 PM ET

yep. when it's all said and done he'll have his 25 homeruns......along with 150 strikeouts, an obp below .300 and a ton of errors in left. anyone who watches soriano play regularly knows the dude does far more harm than good. that was true 5 yrs ago, let alone now.

Ja hey der, without the Cubbies you would have no reason to exist. You're pretty funny too, but not in a comedic way, more of a gender bending mode.

Get some silverware and stick a fork in his ass.

April 25, 2012  10:01 PM ET

...because Soriano is done.

When the Yankees got rid of him everybody thought they were crazy
