08:12 AM ET 04.25 | A manager went to bat on Tuesday. Brandon Inge is hitting .100 and has had a couple of missteps at second base. The Detroit Tigers have lost four of their past five games. Tigers manager Jim Leyland believes those two points are unrelated. Leyland discussed Inge at length Tuesday night following his team's 7-4 loss to the Seattle Mariners. ... "In my opinion, Brandon Inge has not really had anything to do with us losing four out of five. Has he helped a lot? No. He hasn't. But in my opinion, I don't think he's had a lot to do with us (losing four of five)." Inge has been a polarizing figure in Detroit sports for some time, but it seems that he has been ripped by Tigers fans on sports talk radio and booed.

Rangers may have had a little to do with that.

yes, inge is a problem, but....tigers may could have beat the rangers with better corner infield defense.... several times sure outs went for base hits..... fielder and cabrera on the corners, what a twin joke....my suggestion to all hitters, lefties or righties.....pull, pull, pull....

It's not as if Inge is known as a slugger anyway, and hell, he's only had 20 plate appearnces.

However, it is amusing to see that his OPS+ is 4.

Inge is the Ike Davis of Detroit!!!!

Has he helped a lot? No.

Yeah...that's taking the heat off of him.

Dude. They just played the hottest team in baseball -- the Rangers. They got out-pitched (except for Verlander's game). Inge may be a waste of space, but he's not the problem here.

When anyone hits .100 they are part of the problem
