Did RGIII offend the Colts?

08:05 AM ET 04.26 | Robert Griffin III reportedly feels his decision not to work out for the Colts may have something to do with Andrew Luck going first overall. [Griffin] believes he still had a chance to go first overall until a couple of weeks ago. Griffin and Luck both had impressive Pro Days, but the Colts wanted to host both for private workouts to take final looks at each passer. Luck obliged. Griffin did not. After Griffin turned the Colts down, the team stopped showing interest in him, he said. ... "I think feelings might've been hurt or something like that. I went to D.C. on a visit and [Indianapolis] didn't offer a visit at all, and so we kind of knew what direction they were going. But Andrew's their guy. You can't be mad about that."

CAPTION- "When Colts asked RG3 to come for a workout, he responded by telling Irsay he had the choice on which thumb he could sit on".

No.

April 26, 2012  08:20 AM ET

In a few years, no one will remember who was first and who was second. All that counts is their performance on the field.

April 26, 2012  08:25 AM ET

Wouldn't have made a difference in the draft order.

Morning Lads,

Now this is a lesson that is seldom learned and should be learned. How many times has this been proven to be absolutely true? Moreover, how often did winnning the Heisman REALLY matter?

I've been eating more fiber lately so my thinking is a tad clearer these days.

In order for that to be true, Irsay would have to have a huge ego... and we all know he doesn't, right?

Let's see, the team with the #1 pick asks for a workout which is in reality a job interview. RG3 declines, yet he claims to desire to be the #1 pick in the draft. Maybe there is something to what that "unnamed" scout has to say after all.

I like how he tried to elevate himself by being self-critical. Well played.

The only problem is, nobody's buying it. Unless Luck were to have some kind of career ending injury before 8:00pm tonight, there's no way the Colts were ever going to take RGIII first.

April 26, 2012  08:48 AM ET

Shanny was probably dying to have RGIII go to the Colts workout. He knows he's getting 2nd best. He remembers how the Cards took Leinart right in front of him and he took Cutler. Everyone thought that the Cards got the best of that deal. But Shanahan knew...and he knows here. He would love for Luck to fall to #2.

April 26, 2012  08:50 AM ET

Luck is going to the Colts, RGIII going to the Redskins. Time to move on.

April 26, 2012  08:54 AM ET

If Irsay were offended there'd have been a tweet to that effect. The guy can't himself.

They wanted Luck the whole time, they were not going to draft RG3 no matter what he did. Why play the mind games with Luck to make it seem like they were not sure they really wanted him?

And this unnamed source is a grown man taking pot shots in the media about a player but hiding behind a reporters skirt. Don't be a scared ****, if you think he is selfish, speak your mind and don't hide while doing it. Be a man to face whatever criticism may come your way.

Just like the Manning / Leif debate. There never was a real decision to be made. The Colts knew all along they would take Manning and they've known all along they would take Luck. The media made it out to be a two horse (pun intended) race.

I also see a little bit of RGIII's ego starting to come out over the last few weeks.

There's a fine line between self-confidence and egotism. So far, I think RG-III has played it pretty well.
