Knicks to offer Phil Jackson $50M?

08:13 AM ET 04.26 | Suffice it to say that the mere idea would make a lot of long-suffering basketball fans -- teased by trades and acquisitions, failed by expensive front office missteps, disappointed by The Decision and given hope in the form of a small miracle that became Linsanity -- in the Big Apple awfully happy. If the New York Knicks don't advance beyond the first round of the playoffs, I'm hearing they'll make a major -- repeat, major -- push to lure legendary coach Phil Jackson out of retirement. With money being no object, the scuttlebutt is the Knicks brass may offer the "Zen Master" a four-year, $50 million deal.

Phil is proven.. getting him is no brainer. At the same time Larry Brown was proven as well when he joined the Knicks.
I don't think Woodson can get the job done long term. Inserting Amare into the starting line up when team chemistry was highest cost up the Cleveland game and set the team back from a 'flow perspective' on both ends of the court.
Our current line up with Amare won't get the job done against Miami. Amare needs to come off the bench. It's too late in the season to get his rhythm with the starting unit.
Woodson can't manage the ego's. Phil Jackson can. So getting Phil at whatever cos is worth the gamble.

Phil only takes on guarantee championship teams. The Knicks aren't one of these teams.

The Bulls was his first coaching job. He would have been crazy not to take it.

He had Kobe to build around. How many did he win the second time around?
Who does he have to build around in NY?

At 12.5 mil per, I say this cash action is plenty worth Phil Jackson. With Jackson in the Knicks will truly begin to win. There will be a lotta styling and smiling in MSG. With Jackson, the Knicks will no longer be 1st round and then idle, they would be all of a sudden chasing a title. Phil would bring the Knicks some newfound class and they would hopefully no longer be targets to bash. New york New York things ain't always what it seem, wit Jackson though it quite nicely be a fitting end to an otherwise horrid dream.
