Chicago ready to shop Jake Peavy?

08:15 AM ET 04.26 | Among the most pleasant surprises in this young season has been starting pitcher Jake Peavy. Peavy has struck out 26 and walked just four in 28 2/3 innings, allowing just one home run. This level of performance isn't surprising when you're talking about a former Cy Young Award winner, but it is surprising given the last three seasons of Peavy's career. ... The White Sox owe Peavy $17MM this season and are likely to pay him a $4MM buyout rather than exercise his $22MM club option for 2013. A sub-2.00 ERA probably isn't sustainable, but if Peavy shows that he can remain effective over the next two months, Williams could be in possession of the best available starting pitcher on the trade market at the deadline.

The picture will be much clearer in the next 3 months whether the Sox will still be contending and if Peavy is still pitching without injury. Until then they hold their breath

You must be convinced Peavy is back 100% and will stay healthy, I'm not. He looks great so far, but before any team would trade for him I'd like to see him stay healthy for about 10-12 starts.

Maybe the owner needs to think about getting rid of Williams who was the fool who sign Peavy to this ridiculous contact.

You're wrong. The Padres signed him to the ridiculous contract. Williams traded for him.
