08:25 AM ET 04.26 | Patrick Roy says his cell phone is always on, and his former team has reached out to him. Speculation is growing in Montreal that [Roy] is in line to become the Canadiens coach after a report the former goaltender met with Habs adviser Serge Savard. Savard denied a radio report on CJAD that he and Roy had met at a restaurant recently, but did confirm he had talked with Roy on the phone. ... Savard said he simply wanted to know Roy's intentions about becoming an NHL coach. Savard also is seeking a successor to general manager Pierre Gauthier and said a GM would be hired first. The Canadiens are believed to have four or five candidates for GM, including Tampa Bay Lightning assistant GM Julien BriseBois and hockey analyst Pierre McGuire.

Maybe I'm letting my personal opinions get the best of me. But can Montreal be seriously considering Pierre McGuire for anything? Does he actually have the talent and ability to help this, or any other franchise?

Sorry Spiny I'm being selfish here. He's on NBC. If he went to Montreal he'd be a B-irkie style GM and be in the Canadian media everyday. No thank you.

Yes I am but that doesn't stop the constant Leaf crap we endure. The Goat was known as the Ghost and rarely subjected us to his thoughts. McGuire's a media wh0re and would be wrestling B-irk everyday for airtime.
