10:56 AM ET 04.28 | Pat Shurmur said he expects quarterback Brandon Weeden to come in and hopefully win the starting job immediately, and he was noncommital about Colt McCoy's future with the team. He added that the Browns are "really impressed with what we saw with Weeden." He also dismissed a report that the Browns were shopping McCoy on the second day of the NFL draft Friday, but didn't rule out moving him in the near future. "We've drafted a quarterback to come in and compete with him -- at this point -- and that's where it's at," he said. He also said a report by ESPN's Adam Schefter that the Browns told McCoy Thursday that they wouldn't draft a quarterback in the first round "was absolutely false. For the record, we don't consult our players about what we're doing in the draft. I think it's ridiculous to assume that we would say those things. I just want to be strong about the no."

Note to Browns fans - it could be worse.

Look at the Dolphins...

I wouldn't say that Quinn was the answer and I don't know that McCoy is or isn't but until they find a way to protect a QB and give him some weapons then I don't believe that Weeden has any better shot than the other two (well, maybe better than Quinn).

Weeden will outshine Luck or RGIII in my opinion. The guy is much more mature and NFL ready.

They have Joe Thomas at left OT and just drafted a stud for right OT. The Browns look ready.

Yeah, JT has been exceptional; any team would love to have him on their line. I hope that the new guy holds his own on the right.

I like what they got in the draft, but I still don't think they have a solid, break out receiver.

The draft isn't over yet.

is your screen name the representation of all the bitter tears you have shed as a Browns fan?

I'm a Bears fan but I recognize a good draft when I see it. I wish the Bears wouldn't shoot themselves in the foot every year with their hodge podge method of drafting.

That's something they need to take care of.

That may be an over-estimation of Weeden but I would love to see the Browns relevant in the NFL again......

Maybe if Jim Brown returns...seriously, I think Holmgren is in position to improve their situation. He learned alot under Ron Wolfe.

Couch, Quinn, McCoy, not a very good track record for their prospects.

He's have to bring Otto Graham, Paul Warfield and maybe Lou Groza with him

Let me state the obvious. Who is Weeden going to throw the ball to besides T. Richardson and the other teams DBs?

I think Weden will be a good to great QB in the next 3 years IF they can get him some good WRs to throw to and some goods young OLs.

It's going to take more than 2 good lineman to keep Weeden off his backside when they play the Steelers and the Ravens twice a year. At least McCoy could run for his life when the Browns' overly crappy OL broke down. Good luck with your new immobile AARP pocket passer (Weeden).

I think the idea is for Richardson to help out enough to get some play-action going.

Im glad the Browns guy came o;ut and lambasted the report. im so sick and tired of the media reporting false innaccurate and misleading info from anonymous sources

I hope for McCoy's sake they DO move him. It would be the best thing that could possibly happen for him.
