11:17 AM ET 04.29 | Dale Earnhardt Jr. remains mired in his career-worst winless streak, yet his consistently strong finishes have him trailing Sprint Cup series points leader Greg Biffle by just five points entering next weekend's race at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway. Who doesn't think Earnhardt has a chance to leave Alabama next weekend as the series points leader?

How many think this story (which comes from the Charlotte Observer) was meant to show the 88 fans that they are still a part of the Jr. Fan Club? I guess FN thinks by throwing in a Jr. thread every now and then they will get more looks and posts. Why don't they try to put a new thread in every day or every couple of days instead of the 8 days between this one and the last one?

You just never know. He has been very competive. Why can't Gordon catch a break?

Since this is an electronic media..does that make it 'e-speculation'?
Jr could break the streak and come out with the points lead after 'Dega. If I were a betting man, I'd bet the points lead as more likely a scenario. He's having a good run, no doubt. Congrats to the Shrub (the stinkin' bastu*d for his win. ;) at Richmond....

i'd say winning is a better scenario. biffle only has to finish 1 or 2 spots behind jr to maintain the points lead..
88 is the best restrictor plate racer in the business when they run in packs and not tandem.

Gordon can't catch a break because of the most idiotic rule in racing....the GWC rule. It's worse than 'the chase' and 'the lucky dog' and this new bs 'side by side restart' rule.
Martinsville had JG's name all over it....he did a masterful job of closing on and passing JJ, only to be suckerpunched by the 'GWC'.

Unless you were talking about 'the other Gordon'....in which case, please ignore comment 18.
Question: Does Robby Gordon even race anymore???? maybe he should go back to open wheel

side by side restarts = one of the best things to happen to NASCAR.
