Bidding war for Parise?

08:22 AM ET 05.01 | The Hurricanes have their man -- in theory, at least. For the first time, the Hurricanes have identified a first-line caliber winger to play with Eric Staal as their top priority. One could argue a No. 1 defenseman is a more pressing need, but let's not quibble. It's taken them so long to acknowledge that Staal has been held back by sub-par linemates that one should never discount such progress. General manager Jim Rutherford has declared that owner Peter Karmanos is willing to spend the money, and a not-too-subtle whispering campaign has identified New Jersey Devils captain Zach Parise as the No. 1 target. ... The Hurricanes won't be the only team going after Parise. Anyone with the money to spend will make a run, and that includes the Detroit Red Wings.

Parise could be an interesting addition to the Bruins, but they would have to unload Thomas to make cap room. It could be interesting to see if Chiarelli makes a move.

If The Bruins get the chance to make that move...they'd better. Horton is still a question mark and if he DOES come back ok...better for them

Parise is staying in NJ (says while praying to the hockey gods). He said he wants a chance at the cup, so why would he go to Carolina who can't make the playoffs or Detroit or Boston, since they can't even get out of the first round (TWEAK).

Come to Dallas Bro...

Really see his best fit in Detroit but can see a team like Buffalo finding a way to steal him...

"Bidding war for Parise?"

Lamoriello: "Hello? Who? Parise? No, Parise is not available. He's busy trying to beat the Flyers. Thank you for the call. You can call back in July if you want. Bye!" Click!

I hate free agents. No loyalty.

I really think ZP is going to be loyal, don't know why, I just do.

I hope so. He just wouldn't look good in any other jersey.

Think Kovy is going to be scratched tonight at least with this mysterious injury of his. It's obvious he is playing on one leg. I blame the coach for playing this guy 26 minutes a game all season. Stupid stupid stupid.

I can't imagine him not moving west so he's closer to home.

His papa was an honourable bloke. Hopefully so is the progeny.

That was puzzling but it only took them 29 games to figure out he was a POS.

He was in To***to over 10 years.

If someone were going to pay you more for your services, wouldn't you be at least tempted to consider it?
