08:24 AM ET 05.01 | Scott Howson's recent comments regarding the need for "a different look in goal" likely caught the ear of GMs interested in Rick Nash. Could Antti Niemi be the answer? ... Could Niemi be a potential trade target for Howson? It's an interesting question to ponder this offseason, as Niemi has three years remaining on a contract that carries a manageable $3.8 million cap hit. Furthermore, the Sharks are likely to revisit the Rick Nash discussion, after they were unable to land the Blue Jackets' scorer in February. It's pure speculation here, but Niemi could potentially be offered up in order for the Sharks to make that trade happen. The Sharks don't have too much depth in their farm system -- except at the goaltender position.

Yes, Nash will solve all their playoff problems. Trading away the Cup-winning goalie won't hurt them in the LEAST!

well I thought the Dany Heatly experiment worked out well, too.

I think San Jose's window has closed for most of the current roster

Effin all star that he is

if San Jose does not have any prospects, then is it time to "blow up the roster", as the cliche goes and stockpile young talent and draft picks now?

It will take more than Niemi to pry Nash away from the Jackets

Niemi will definately be the player to turn the Jackets around. When I think of franchise goalies I think Niemi

because that is all they're missing, right?

Both the Sharks and the Jackets are a mess -- they are perfect for each other. The only difference is I can eventually see the Sharks straightening the ship.

Yes, take the Nash of the Jackets and insert Niemi and I see dynasty

Yep. They need to start thinking about flipping the likes of Patrick Mary Lou and Joe Thornton. That'd be a good place to start.

Niemi's been inconsistent since the cup, and Nash is gett'n on in age and hasn't won anything - irrelevant thread.

Truth be told, he was not all that consistent during the cup run either. But, the Hawks had no choice. The D in front of him played great and made him look better than he actually was.

And get his revenge against the Hawks, being in the same division.

When was it ever open ?? NO team with No-Show Joe Thornton will ever win the Cup.
