Laviolette snub in line with conspiracy theory

08:28 AM ET 05.02 | After Peter Laviolette failed to make the list of finalists for the Jack Adams Award Monday, Philadelphia was officially shut out from the NHL postseason awards recognition. [Perhaps] I should investigate into the actual existence into the N.H.W.A.P.F -- the National Hockey Writers Against the Philadelphia Flyers -- which is simply an extension of the P.H.W.A. (Professional Hockey Writers Association). Just how many members comprise the N.H.W.A.P.F., I'm not quite sure. However, this group of secretive scribes has not only excluded Laviolette as an Adams finalist in the past few weeks, but also Claude Giroux as a finalist for the Hart Trophy as MVP and Matt Read as one three finalists for the Calder Trophy.

Persecution Complex.

Sounds like a shutout to me.

Hitch is going to get it, hands down. Torts and MacLean, I don't know if they deserve it more than Lavy, but its a pretty subjective thing anyway.

Lavy tried his best to get them moving last night, but he just couldn't do it.

The guy who wrote this forgot that the writers don't vote for all these (it shows how Read, Giroux, Holmgren and Lavy were all left out). After he was called out on it, he said htis was a joke article and tried to keep things light.

Probably but is also a little weird that a team that is 3 wins away from the ECF and nobody in the organization is on the bill for an award.

Laviolette and Giroux I may get why they aren't nominated
Matt Read, I don't understand totally.
But understand that these are the results of non-quantifiable votes. Personalities, etc. get involved, and if someone doesn't like you, whatever the reason....they don't have to prove their vote. And when you mouth off, this is the only recourse these guys have....it's like..."oh, yeah, I'll show him"...how Torts got nominated is tough to understand.
I've read where BBWA people will deliberately NOT vote for someone because they know he'll get in (HOF) and they don't want it to be unanimous....childish really.

I'd say Hitch hands down...

I'd say Hitchcock is going to win the Adams as well. Malkin will probably get the MVP, Lundqvist the Vezina (though a damn good case could be made for Quick), Bergeron should get the Selke and Chara should get the Norris, though the voters will probably forget that it's an award for defensemen. Don't really know much about the ROY candidates to make a pick.

That's OK, Peter. You can have the last laugh by winning the Stanley Cup. That's what's all about. But, you'll have to do much, much better than last night for that to happen.

Don't forget, they snubbed Glen Sather all those years he was winning the Stanley Cup after Stanley Cup with the Edmonton Oilers. He was both GM and coach at the time but, in the eyes of the East coast media, he never did anything to deserve such honor.

But they didn't vote on all these, which makes this article hillarious. He tried coming up with a conspiracy theory, but didn't actually get the facts correct. But I guess why let facts get in a way of an article.

Apologies for my redundancy as this was already stated within the article itself.

At the risk of sounding redundant, "redundancy" is what T&R is all about.

Seriously. What in the hell was that? Did the Flyers really think the Devils are going to roll over and play dead just because they won Game 1?

This is the Devils we're talking about, with a certain guy named Larry Robinson guy behind the bench who's won more than a few Cups himself.

Now we have us a series.

May 2, 2012  10:01 AM ET

Just wait until they figure out he's passed over for the Nobel Peace Prize too.

May 2, 2012  10:02 AM ET

It's a little silly. Caring about these awards is like caring about the President's Trophy. I'm pretty sure Lavy, G, and Read will get over this if they win the Cup.

It was that last regular season game in Pittsburgh that did him in for that one.

The Nobel is already reserved for "His Irkness."

Just a bad game and Jersey was more determined. Bryz did his job for two periods but the Flyers couldn't beat Brodeur. Someone yesterday made the silly comment that it might be a sweep. This could easily go the distance.
