Canes looking to add another Staal

08:26 AM ET 05.03 | The Carolina Hurricanes are looking for a top-line forward to play with captain Eric Staal. What about Jordan Staal? For now, it's little but speculation. Jordan Staal, one of the three Staal brothers in the NHL, has a year left on his contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins. No one with the Hurricanes can speak publicly about him lest they be accused of tampering. But if the Pens do decide to trade Staal, 23, it's believed the Canes would be interested. Staal, who won a Stanley Cup with Pittsburgh in 2009, scored 25 goals and had a career-high 50 points last season and is one of the NHL's best two-way centers. ... Jordan Staal, who will make $4.5 million next season, is due to become an unrestricted free agent after the 2012-2013 season.

Exactly, the Edmonton rumors hold water because they at least have picks and or young talent to deal. Plus Skinner is a center, they aren't going to trade Staal for another center. Its not like the Pens are desperate and will unload him anywhere for a bag of pucks.
Some are calling to unload Malkin in a mega deal while his value is high. But whatever they do, most agree now they can't have 3 centers taking a huge chuck of the payroll.

Can't get rid of Malkin. Crosby goes down, inasmuch as I love Staal, he can't carry the team like Malkin can and has proven (although has proven to disappear come playoffs).

Staal to the Canes? For what? C'mon. Shero has made mistakes (see Martin), but isn't a complete moron.

would be an asinine move to get rid of him, but in this 'capped" age, they may have to. But not to an Eastern team....

Need a scorecard just to keep up with all the "trades".

Jordan might be interested in this trade as it is the one sure way to protect himself from getting clobbered by his brother ;)

I think that is a good idea. Canuck get on that. So far before the season has ended Parise has been going to the Wild, Wings and Canes. And Suter the Wings.
