Hartnell makes himself a scapegoat

08:28 AM ET 05.03 | Earlier this week, the Flyers' top line of Claude Giroux, Scott Hartnell and Jaromir Jagr was held in check by the checking of a rookie in Adam Henrique. "I don't think it was as much as what they did as what we DIDN'T do," Hartnell said after Wednesday's practice in Voorhees. Hartnell, who appears to be playing injured, took the blame. "I wasn't forechecking. I wasn't hitting. It seemed like my legs weren't moving, and when you don't have a guy on your line going, it's tough to get the other guys going as well," he said. "I have to be better. I have to get emotionally into the game. It felt like it was just too easy for them." ... Hartnell said he was "fine," but he has appeared hindered after blocking a first-period shot.

Split the difference. Maybe a team has finally realized that if you want to shut down the Flyers, you better shut down some of their top players, like Hartnell, Briere (who shows up in the playoffs) and Giroux.
If the first two games are any indication, this could go to seven.

How's that? By taking the blame for about 70% of the team looking bad?

I think the Flyers got lucky in the first game, for the most part they looked just as bad but got lucky with Brodeur not being what he once was that game

Players have to mentally fight through the fatigue in the playoffs. Key turnovers always seem to happen when a player's skates stop moving.

I also think the week off hurt. I expected they would lose the first game and come back playing harder in game 2. Hopefully, now that they are back in a normal schedule of games they can pick it up. Either way, this is going to be a tight series. I just hope Puddy is unhappy at the end of it ;)

I think this is a classy move, most guys can't do this anymore. It can however, backfire. They seem taking the heat and think they must be in the clear?

Every player has had a 'whats wrong with me today' type game. I think that Brez could use a little more heart.

I expected Brodeur to win one himself along, had it going 5 but now it looks like 6. If the Flyers dont get moving they will leave this up to chance, I like to go with the conspiracy theory that they just want the extra home game revenue... :)
