Shannon contends Miami owes him money

08:49 AM ET 05.03 | So much for alumni relations. Former football coach Randy Shannon has sued the University of Miami, his alma mater, claiming UM still owes him money related to his employment. Shannon, 46, was hired to coach the Hurricanes in December 2006. In May 2010, UM extended his contract through Jan. 31, 2014. He was fired Nov. 27, 2010. Shannon's salary was paid to him in four equal installments a year -- Feb. 1, May 1, Aug. 1 and Nov. 1. But because he was fired after he received his final installment for 2010, the lawsuit contends UM offset the approximately two months extra he was paid by reducing his "fixed sum" -- commonly known as a buyout (in his case, paid monthly) -- that is given for being fired without cause.

Let the lawyers duke it out. He had a contract, ought to be fairly simple to resolve, use the language included.

Oh, wait, I already said lawyers were involved. Forget the part about simple resolution.

BTW, what's the status of the NCAA gumshoes' investigation of the working girls/yacht partying/boozing allegations? Anybody know anything? SVT, you out there anywhere?

This guy has an ego that won't fit in many indoor facilities. If half the stories are true a/b how he's treated teams trying to hire him as DC, he's a DA!

How many of us would figure out a way to be a whiney little BIDTCH and piss off employers trying to pay us $1 mill a year? Dude's unemployed and still whines about details of a $1 mill job. WTFJJ?!?!?!

So I hear...

UTk was going to pay him a cool 7 figures to be their DC...or so the story goes. Who knows the truth to any of those rumors. I think those same people said Lovie Smith was going to be the coach at UTk when Dools was hired.
