08:06 AM ET 05.04 | Step right up, Courtney Upshaw. When the Ravens traded back from the first to the second round last week and still managed to get [Upshaw], it might have been the steal of the NFL draft. A week later, it might turn out to be the deal that saved the 2012 season. Word came out from The Castle on Thursday that Pro Bowl outside linebacker Terrell Suggs, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, might have either a partial or full torn Achilles tendon. ... [The] Ravens are less than $2 million under the cap. They don't want to make trades either, because they don't want to mortgage their future giving up draft choices. The next best option is Upshaw. He's the next man up.

"Steal of the draft"? Get back to us in a couple of years.

It would indeed be if Upshaw can replace Suggs. Kinda like Luck replacing Manning.

Too bad he didn't tear his big mouth.

Wasn't Vernon Gholston going to be a fantastic player?

Yeah, let's assess draft picks on May 4th. If this posted tomorrow, at least you could attribute it to someone being drunk.

Noone likes to see career-threatening injuries.

No rookie is going to replace Suggs, dude is one angry man.

Now, if my Steelers can patch together a secondary.. we might be in business.

Upshaw slipped out of the first round for a reason.

Nothing like dropping a couple of tons of pressure on a kid that's never played a snap in the NFL.

Well Suggs out most likely for at least most of the year, Ray Ray & Reed another year older, My guess this will be the year the defense falls off a little..........3rd place in the division this year.

Mike Tannenbaum is a joke drafting defense. Ozzie is in another league.

The whole season depends on you son! The team and the city need you! Oh, no pressure.
