08:17 AM ET 05.04 | For now, with Mat Gamel likely out for the season, ex-Giant Travis Ishikawa is the answer. After that? The Brewers are expected to recall veteran utilityman Brooks Conrad, who most recently played in the majors with Atlanta, from Triple A Nashville in time for Friday's series opener in San Francisco. Manager Ron Roenicke is expected to broach the subject of first base with right fielder Corey Hart, who could play the position in a pinch, because the Brewers are fairly deep in outfielders with Ryan Braun, Carlos Gomez, Nyjer Morgan and Norichika Aoki. Also, general manager Doug Melvin indicated this week that the Brewers may check in with veteran Derrek Lee, 36, who remains unsigned.

For the love of god why can't this be about Carlos Lee?! I guess they're not that dumb to trade for him.

Lee is finished. He's been finished for 2 years now.

Actually, Hart's stats at first are pretty good. It would open up the outfield logjam, too. I think they would be better served looking within.

I wouldn't exactly call Ryan Braun, Carlos Gomez, Nyjer Morgan and Norichika Aoki a Log Jam...

Braun will be fine... They've been talking about Gomez's potential for the last 5 years and Nyger & Aoki make you wonder 'Don't they have anyone better on the Farm?'...

But Hart is best option at 1B - the next coming of Adam Dunn.

At least Hart gives them the option of looking for a first baseman or an outfielder. But if they do move him to 1B, they will be in significant need for another outfielder. I wonder if Lee has been staying in shape this Spring? He was certainly red hot for the Pirates at the end of last season.

Hopefully, maybe Epstein will go after Youkilis haha.

Epstein is with the Cubs. This article is about the Brewers. With a name like Razor, I would have expected you to be a bit more sharp.

I agree with your accessment on Hart, a good team player.Unfortunately for the Brewers, this would probably lead to more Nyger Morgan, a total moron and legend in his own mind.

Without a doubt. The fact that they would look to Derrick Lee is laughable at best. Ramirez is already killing them with his lackluster production as it is

On second thought, giving that little Nyger more playing time is out of the question
