Owner: This year's B's were better than Cup-winners

08:35 AM ET 05.04 | The Bruins will essentially have an extra two months to recover from this season, something that doesn't make the team's brass all that happy. "We did expect to get out of that first round this year. We were probably a little better than the team that won the Stanley Cup when you look at the skill level and the age of the players," said Bruins Principal owner Jeremy Jacobs. ... [Cam Neely] said a "philosophical change" might be in store for the power play after it once again let down the Black and Gold at the worst possible time, but there was no fist pounding on the table in fury one year removed from winning the Stanley Cup. Instead the Bruins President hoped his young nucleus of players learned from the mental and physical grind.

Enough of the dump and chase on the PP. The B's need playmakers on the man advantage.

I know they had some injury issues but they really hit a wall after December.

Why are we talking about the Bruins...there are 8 teams left trying to win the Cup with more interesting things going on ..and the Bruins aren't one of them.....

Yeah, I would say that sums it up.
I don't agree that this years team was better than than last year. Horton was available right through game 2 (?) of the SC finals and Corvo was someone else's problem. Last year's team managed to get through the season without a lot of injuries and this year saw them getting dinged up regularly.

Because the Rangers are a boring **** team of clutch and grab hackers who manage to turn every game into a tractor pull and no one wants to talk about them.

Very tough to repeat.
However, the Leafs have repeated the same thing since 1967, so it can't be that hard!
Makes one think (as I scratch my chin and look skyward...)

The loss of Nathan Horton was also a contributing factor for the B's PP troubles.

Yeah, that didn't help matters much. I was hoping they'd stick Chara in front of the net on the PP. He's a big body.

If you count losing in OT of a game 7 as checking out, than you'd be right. That game could have ended either way.
