Recruit unhappy with Florida State

Gainesville defensive end Keith Wells appeared a lock to sign with Florida State in February following a commitment announcement at his school last summer. But the 6-foot-5, 270-pound Wells now appears determined to spend the next four weeks testing the waters around the ACC and SEC. "Right now, I'd say I will visit Tennessee, Miami and FSU," Wells said. "And if anyone falls through, I've got schools like Clemson, Notre Dame and Alabama. Florida State's prospects of regaining ground with Wells might be as simple as picking up a telephone. "They're not communicating with me a lot," Wells said. "I guess they're just wanting to see what I'm going to do. Me and the guy who was recruiting me at FSU just haven't communicated like we used to. "I don't like that. It shows that they're not concerned, as far as recruiting me and getting me to come there."

Ya just showed your true character, kid! Just what Bobby B. wants to do ... kiss the butt of a snot-nosed, whining maggot. Let him go sit on the bench for another team until he runs out of eligibility.

I'm not an FSu fan, but what does he want them do to? This kid makess it sound like they were dating or something. "She stopped calling me. I don't know if she wants me anymore." FSU has to worry about not getting half their team kicked out of school right now.

January 9, 2008  08:40 AM ET

This kid sounds like a****. That's right, I said it. A**** in all caps. What's worse is prob 75% of recruits think the same way this kid does.

January 9, 2008  09:00 AM ET

If he's from Gainesville why isn't he considering Florida?

January 9, 2008  09:06 AM ET

Time was the kids conformed to the program..not the other way around. Sad really.

January 9, 2008  09:13 AM ET

Hova, that's Gainesville GA.....just north of ATL. and i agree with all of the comments above.

January 9, 2008  09:22 AM ET

To J Hova; I guessing that Urban didn't ask him to the prom. So, he's not considering Florida and it appears that Mark (UGA) didn't call him on his birthday, so they are out as well.

January 9, 2008  09:25 AM ET

That's exactly right, Cheesy. This kid wants the schools to throw themselves at him..."We're not worthy!!" He's all about entitlement. A kid like that will only be trouble for the team as a whole.

January 9, 2008  09:26 AM ET

He sounds like he may not be a blue chipper if you ask me. He has offers from Notre Dame (they are horrible), Clemson (getting better but still average at best), Alabama (started good, ended horrible), Miami (garbage team right now), Tennesse (good but inconsistent).

Stop beinga Bit - - ! Worry about the education part and not about who calls you the most. Your not a free agent signing a contract dum @ - s - s!

As a true Noles fan I say let the guy walk. We don't need another Fred Rouse coming in with a diva attitude. What we need right now are solid hard nosed football players who are committed to turning the program around, not some flake who wants to be pampered. Good riddance son and I hope your next suitor shows up in a limo with candy and flowers.

January 9, 2008  09:40 AM ET

Somebody somewhere has told this kid that he can play on Sunday and it has gone straight to his head. If he makes it, the kid wil last a few years, end up on the bench and out of football in 5 years. That is, if he makes it.

When are schools going to go after the best student first and the best athlete second. I guess as soon as college football goes back to being a sport and not a business. So never?

January 9, 2008  09:45 AM ET

yep, sounds about right.................punk that wants to be catered to already. They don't want him bad enough? He said he wanted to go there. He committed. What, they now need to ask him everyday, so he feels wanted?? Gimme a break.
Cheesy, sliq and sooner girl nailed it. This kid will be nothing but trouble, no matter how good he is.

January 9, 2008  09:48 AM ET

The recruiter is out trying to get more players to make the team better.....or maybe he is trying to find some pacifiers or diapers for this kid......You have committed, they need to spend their time on players who have not.....If FSU gets only one good recruit, this kid is going to transfer because the team sucks and everyone knows the team need all the help they can get....GROW UP

Translation: "The check bounced".

This should set off a red flag to the other programs but it won't. If this kid is any good at all, the other programs are salivating at the chance to get him. The kid COMMITTED to FSU so why should they continue to call him? There was an FSU linebacker who is now playing in the NFL who was recruited by every college in the country. I told him that once he signed on the dotted line, everything changes. After that you are just another player with high credentials who was an All American in high school. He didn't believe me. Once he got there, he was playing mostly on special teams and nobody was kissing his rearend anymore. He wanted to transfer. He was convinced to stay and ended up having a stellar career at FSU. My point is this Keith Wells recruit will get a taste of reality wherever he ends up.

Thanks for the correction ATLfan15. All I saw was Gainesville so I assumed Florida.

DAGGUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

January 9, 2008  10:26 AM ET

to noles da bomb..... Rouses problem wasnt the diva aspect.... and the diva aspect aint that bad... it adds that swagger aspect fsu has been missing for a long long time.... but rouses problem was he was a thug..... if he was an offensive player I would say bow done to him.... but he is defense..... we can reload easily.... so he doesnt matter..... And as long as there are websites like rivals cstv and scouts inc then high schoolers will go crazy with all this attention.... A high schooler doesnt know how to handle all the attention.... just like they dont know how to handle the millions the nba hands them.... Granted I dont like him anyway... he is a run stoping d end..... nothing fsu usually goes for..... So forget him and move on.... I didnt like him when I tried to talk him into fsu anyway!

January 9, 2008  10:40 AM ET

no sweat Hova.....but really, why wouldn't the Gators be talking to him? after the way Mike Hart ran against them, you'd think they would want a DE that can help against the run. oh wait, the Gators didn't call HIM so they are out of the contest. LMAO
