Eagles may consider keeping four QBs

08:06 AM ET 05.07 | Though the starting job is locked up, the position battle worth talking about is at backup quarterback. [Odds] are the Eagles won't have Michael Vick for 16 regular-season games. [Howie Roseman] hinted that the team could keep four quarterbacks this year, but even for Andy Reid that would seem to be an extravagance. It's safe to say the Eagles aren't going to cut Nick Foles after using a third-round pick on him this year. He'll be the No. 3 guy. Which leaves Mike Kafka and Trent Edwards. You know what you're getting in Edwards. He's played in the league and has been reasonable for a No. 2 QB. No, he won't carry you in the playoffs, but neither will just about any backup quarterback.

No they won't. Kafka was a fourth round pick and after being on the team a year they still did not want to use him so they brought in VY. Now they bring in Trent Edwards and draft Foles.

A backup qb won't carry you to the playoffs? So, carry three of them on your roster. That kind of logic won't carry you into the playoffs either.

Why would you keep Foles over Kafka, who has at least a year's NFL experience? Where's the gain there? Foles was not a good QB in college.
