Werth takes a shot at Phillies fans

[Werth] underwent surgery on his broken left wrist Monday at the Mayo Clinic. He will begin strengthening exercises within six weeks, the Nationals announced. ... In an e-mail to the Post, Werth said Phillies fans in right field at Nationals Park taunted him as he walked off the field Sunday night. And he will remember them during his rehab. "After walking off the field feeling nauseous knowing my wrist was broke and hearing Philly fans yelling 'You deserve it,' and, 'That's what you get,' I am motivated to get back quickly and see to it personally those people never walk down Broad Street in celebration again," Werth wrote.

Yes, because an over paid .265 right fielder will be the sole reason the Phillies don't get another parade... Guess the money and Nats team wasn't enough to make you give 100% before so Werth should be thanking Philly fans for the spark...

I'm sure you can find fans from every team that would do something like that, but I think it's universally accepted that the highest proportion of class-less fans belongs to Philadelphia. However, considering he played there, I don't know why Werth would even be surprised. These are the same people who cheered when a stretcher was brought out for Michael Irvin. But hey, if he thinks he needs a little extra motivation to get back from his injury, then I guess he's got it...

Real fans don't cheer for injuries. I mean, typical excuses from Philly fans is that "everybody does it" which isn't the case. I've been to many games where an opposing player is seriously injured - and the fans there have NOT cheered the injury. Only in Philadelphia do you get fans cheering career ending injuries (Michael Irvin) as well as issuing death threats to one of their own players (Mitch Williams).
Philly fans will dispute this - but they're wrong. Classless and wrong. Nice combo there.

Sometimes my fellow Philly fans act like total idiots. I was at the 76ers game Friday night, and when Noah went down hard on his ankle, a majority of the crowd cheered. I was looking around thinking how dumb these people are for cheering a guy when it looks like he may have a serious injury.
I still don't understand why people hate Jason Werth, wouldn't everyone take a contract like that??? The guy got offered 126 million compared, as the Phils offered him half of that. I don't hate Werth as he didn't do a Scott Rolen and ask to be traded cause he didn't like it here, he just got offered more $$$ in free agency and took it.
Werth was apart of that 08 Phils team that gave us a parade, but some of my Philly fans have short memories and forget that he was a big part of it. Yeah the Nats overpaid for him, but thats not his fault!
