Mota's agent blames cough medicine, vows appeal

So, he took children's cough medicine? Seriously? C'mon guys, you can come up with better excuses than a 240lb athlete using children's cough medicine, like it would have any effect.

Mota tested positive for the banned substance clenbuterol, an asthma drug that can act as a stimulant and build muscle mass and cost cyclist Alberto Contador his 2010 Tour de France title when it was found in his system.

Also, guys like Katz should learn the difference between asthma medication and children's cough syrup. Clenbuterol is in asthma medicine. If you are going to lie, at least have a plausible story.

Maybe it was Krusty brand couch syrup. It's not just good, it's good enough.

Actually - this is plausible. Some cough syrups contain medications for expectoration etc. A bronchial dilator will help with getting the crap out of the lungs. Of course - he still should have know what he was taking....

Children's cough syrup? It sounds really, really, bad.

Clenbuterol is not an ingredient of any therapeutic drug approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Clenbuterol is approved for use in some countries, via prescription only, as a bronchodilator for asthma patients.

The kicker:

In 2006, San Francisco Giants pitcher Guillermo Mota, while a member of the New York Mets, received a 50-game suspension after testing positive for Clenbuterol

Fair enough... didn't know the FDA hadn't approved it for use. Looks like they just stuck their foot in their mouths - probably got the crap from Canada or somewhere else - it is allowed for use in other countries.... BUT HE IS STILL RESPONSIBLE.....

I'm guessing the DR, he's already been suspended for this once before. That makes him double stupid.

If you can't believe a players agent, then who can you believe?

Agents just pissed he's not going to get the usual percentage because of the fine. ;-)

Here's an idea: To keep this from happening, why not let your team trainer know of every med you are taking so he can log the info and report to MLB on a regular basis?
