Before the game, Yoenis Cespedes had to be scratched with an injury to the back of his left hand that he sustained during batting practice. ... As for Cespedes, manager Bob Melvin said the center fielder will have X-rays and an MRI exam Wednesday. Cespedes leads the A's with 21 RBIs. If Cespedes is out for an extended period of time, the A's would have a stronger need to turn to Manny Ramirez. The designated hitter is eligible to be activated May 30 after a 50-game suspension.

He'll be allowed to play in the minors soon to be game ready for the first game he eligible. Depending on Manny isn't exactly a sure thing. He hasn't played major league baseball in more than a year.

I have to agree with the above, even during his brief "resurgence" with the Dodgers, he was mostly a singles hitter. His time has passed. There are more productive DH types still out there if the A's are needing someone with a little pop for a season ... and they're ALL better citizens!

Recognizing my number of posts I know I am a rookie. But where do these T&R writers get this stuff? Like the first post says, he cannot just be called up to play. Plus the injury and extent to Cespedes hand is unknown. Non-story as far as I can see.
