Nashville loss help Wings in Suter chase

08:32 AM ET 05.09 | Well, now, how does a Predators loss help Detroit, even if it makes the Red Wings' first-round loss to Nashville that much more insulting? [The Predators are] a team that has won all of two playoff series. Had they gone further, maybe [Ryan Suter] -- and let me make it clear this is me speculating -- sees the Predators as a place he can win. Now they don't look quite so formidable. There isn't a team in the NHL that's a guaranteed success anymore; the 2012 playoffs have proved that in spades. But the Wings still have selling points, especially in Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg and, of course, Lidstrom, if he returns. Their playoff runs the past three years haven't lasted very long, but neither have Nashville's.

The Devils eliminate the Flyers and we get a thread speculating on Suter going to the Wings. Everyone knows all the the decent players in the league are supposed to at least consider going to the Wings.

Nashvilles loss helped KHL chase of Radulov, and one of the not so good brothers....

He should stay put.

Wings need D-corps overhaul, as they lost to Nashville.....;-)

there are things we know the interns love, (indecisve Swedes, gassy Finns, and of course, anything involving Lord Irk) apparently RELEVANT STORIES do not make that list!

Spiny - why the change in avatar?

May 9, 2012  09:32 AM ET

Nard and I have a bet who will go further. And for the moment, the Devils are ahead...
If the Rangers go further, he has to put Henrik up

May 9, 2012  09:40 AM ET

Thank you Devils!!

May 9, 2012  09:41 AM ET

The Red Wings winning the series against them maybe would have helped, I don't see how them losing this way would help the Wings negotiating stance.

That being said (and ignoring that the interns are ignoring actual playoff talk), I have to plop down my mea culpa...I was wrong about Nashville. Before the season I said they'd fall back down to earth and be trading Weber before the deadline. The Central was crazy good this year (didn't help come playoffs though). But THAT being said, Nash is probably going to look drastically different next season. They've got a lot of players to shore up.

Technically the Devils have got farther, but the Rags still have a chance to be in the same boat. Rags win and all is even. While I like the change, I don't think you need to change it...YET. Wait until the Rags get beat in 7 to the Caps to do that (tweak).

Preds will have Weber and Klein next year...Suter is gone, Radulov..gone....I agree...lets talk about teams that are still in....this is summer time news.....Go Kings......

just being technical. There was actually a picture of him and his former sis-in-law, but I thought that would have been in bad taste to use (but not to mention....tweak!)
Congrats on last night.
In all my years watching and playing this game, I don't think I ever saw a goal like NJ's 2nd goal. I've seen goalies make bad plays...henrik did it last week,....but not like this.
Bizarre

Me thinks the Detroit Free Press hockey writer is more obsessed with Suter than the Wings are.

May 9, 2012  10:07 AM ET

Suter will follow the money. Hate to see a team finally show some momentum only to be purged during free agency. Personally, hope he stays.

They can let Radulov go -- no one will care.

The Philly Inquirer's headline was Bryzaster.

Not Bryz's fault tho. The Flyers couldn't raise their game up another level after dispatching the Pens.

Not disappointed tho. Considering they had something like 12 rookies in the lineup, they did very well this year and next year is looking good. Especially if Homer can shore up the D.

NJ/NYR or NJ/Wash should be fun (a series with the Rangers would be better).

I'm thrilled that NJ won it. I was front row at B. Adams....it was ok. I was disheartened when I realized I forgot to tape the game, but was smiling when I saw the score.

Philly made a great move picking up the bryeeezzer.........(sarcasm for those still learning) ;-)

I think that a lot of blame can go his way, as if he was able to keep them in it........things might have gotten better. I agree with the Flyers though....give up and not waste a bunch of their summer ;-)

little joke.....Cue the Leafs digs.....
