08:11 AM ET 05.10 | It didn't take long for Amar'e Stoudemire to hit recruiting mode. [Stoudemire] issued a public plea to Steve Nash, his former Phoenix Suns teammate who will be a free agent on July 1, to join him in New York. "Everyone knows that Steve loves New York and that New York loves Steve," Stoudemire told The Daily News. "I love Steve. It would be great to have him here next year." Ideally, the Knicks would have Nash as their starting point guard next season with Jeremy Lin serving as the understudy. ... [A] source close to Nash asked the veteran that same question and Nash responded by saying he isn't "ruling out anybody at this point." Nash, who spends part of his summer in Manhattan, has always been enamored with the idea of playing at Madison Square Garden.

What does Melo think?

Nash starting over Jeremy Lin? Why would NY wanna do that?

May 10, 2012  08:39 AM ET

At this stage of his career it would not matter.

I'm getting tired of Knicks and Howard stories. The ridiculous media and their fawning over the Knicks and Howard and who will move where is insane.

It's like listening to weathermen trying to predict the weather in July... in January. Oh yeah... they all know it will be warmer... but after that they don't know ****!

FYI.......no one can offer Lin no more than the Knicks and given the fact the no other city can offer nowhere near as much endorsement money as New York can, this idea that Lin will be playing elsewhere is simply imaginery by most, by others I don't know.

What? Stat campaigning for someone else. This guy is a hurt fraud, an untradeable one at that, so its safe to say he's pretty safe here. He was a nobody last night his normal self. The paint area he defended was non existent as usual. Melo had to carrier the load as usual and one star can't beat three. Yeah, you know the same three who couldn't get it done by themselves when one was in Cleveland, the other in Toronto and the one post Shaq and Mourning, yeah those guys. The same crew who couldn't get it done last year and maybe not this year, so yeah, I guess I know how Melo feels playing without players capable of getting it done. The big three and now this particular three certainly have one upped Melo, but who's complaining.

Impressive rant.

You can call it a rant if you like, your prog., but I call it as it is and was, there's no fact that can dispute my assertion of these particular three (Miami).

Perhaps some of you should refer to current CBA as it relates to Lin and you'll come to find out that Lin can only be offered the 2.5 mil which NY can match and in all likelihood would. Lin's not going anywhere. Move on please.

Really? Knicks can only offer Lin more money if he goes max contract. Are you NY fans so obsessed that you think he is a max contract type of player? Even if they wanted to offer him a max contract, do you believe after Amare and Melo, that there would be room under the salary cap? No way. If Lin signs a contract for more than $5m/year, he is being way overpaid

NY can only pay Lin more if he gets a max contract. Do you really think Jeremy Lin is a max contract player? Paying him more than $3m/year would be overpaying for Lin. Also, with huge contracts for Amare and Melo, Ny could not afford to give out another max contract under the salary cap.
