08:25 AM ET 05.11 | The Big East is scheduled to add Boise State on July 1, 2013, but the school may yet remain in the Mountain West. An industry source told CBSSports.com that Mountain West representatives met with Boise State officials earlier this week to persuade the Broncos to remain in the MWC. Adding to that possibility is that the Broncos still haven't formally notified the Mountain West they are withdrawing from the league. CBSSports.com asked Boise State for a comment about the MWC meeting and why the school had not formally withdrawn from the Mountain West. "We are actively monitoring the changing landscape in college athletics and remain committed to making the best long-term decisions for Boise State," a spokesman said.

Let the bball-centric schools spin off and keep the Big East name. Reform an all-sports conference around FBS schools and give it a name that isn't "Big" or geographically inappropriate.

This is what happens when the map you use has " Louisiana Purchase" for a heading.

That last sentence is remarkably coach-speakish, and therefore needs translation to plain English:

We're looking out for No. 1 here, nobody else, and things are crazy out there. We may be able to get a better deal for mo' moneys since we think we're a pretty hot property, so we're keeping our options open.

I don't think there's a more geographically segmented conference than the WAC.

BSU should absolutely, positively go to the Big 12 (or whatever it wants to be called). An undeniably perfect fit.
