Rice leaving Rutgers for NFL
Posted: Wednesday January 09, 2008 05:39AM ET
Ray Rice's most productive game in a Rutgers uniform will apparently also be his last. Three days after Rice ran for a school-record 280 yards in a 52-30 victory over Ball State in the International Bowl, he said Tuesday that he would forgo his final year of eligibility to enter the 2008 NFL draft. Rice, the university's career rushing leader with 4,926 yards in three seasons, will make the announcement Wednesday at a news conference on campus.

For recruiting purposes, Rutgers will benefit greatly from Rice leaving early, as much of a loss as he is today. As a NJ resident, but not an RU fan, it was a pleasure to watch him play and I admit it was nice to see my home state school enjoy some success in recent years. I believe a healthy Kordell Young will fill in nicely for RU next fall.

Report Offensive CommentHe's a 1st rounder Hova no?
THE TRUTH | 01/09/08, 10:26 AM
Report Offensive CommentNah. He's second at best. He won't have good combine numbers and you know how much these NFL front offices put into that. Ray is on the short side, and he will probably run in the 4.5's which is slow.

Report Offensive CommentWell that's fast for us, but for the combine that would be slow.
Gosh knows I run the 40 in like 10 seconds.

Report Offensive CommentI would test in the 10.0 range. Offensive linemen could run the 40 twice before I finish.

Report Offensive CommentRay has the potential to be a good back, but the same potential to be a bust.
It's crazy to even think about the 40 since I haven't run it in years. I think I could do 4.7 or 4.8, hopefully. (I'm 5 yrs outta HS and I ran 4.57 then).

Report Offensive CommentI ran 8 in high school i thought i was fast....then I saw what saw what 300lbs linemen were doing was like D@mnnnnn
Ray is a tricky pick....u just dont know with him....he could be E.Smith or he could be Curtis Enis
MrMykel_Angelo | 01/09/08, 02:32 PM
Report Offensive Commenthe's certainly no E. Smith and wont be close so go ahead and slap urself for that one! i dont see him going 1st round possibly late in the 2nd. hes not gonna be as fast as other backs in the draft a tad short and he put up his numbers against lesser talent than other backs coming out. that being said he will be scooped up and will be a decent back possibly in the league but i dont see him being a superstar and may split time and not be the feature back depending on where he goes. but again let the record show E. Smith he's not. thank u and good night
