08:14 AM ET 05.11 | Luol Deng is already looking forward to the Olympic Games, even if he needs surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left wrist. "I just know that I'm looking forward to playing in the Olympics," he said. "I'm excited about it. It's something I've wanted to do since I was a kid, and I'm going to prepare myself for it." ... If Deng undergoes the surgery, it will be after he plays for Britain, which could mean he would miss the beginning of next season. Complicating matters is that Derrick Rose also is expected to miss the first couple of months of the season while recovering from surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Deng said he'll wait to see how his wrist feels before and after the Olympics before deciding.

The rose thing is unfortunate.....But if deng chooses to delay his procedure to play in an exhibition olympic event? I would trade his arse immediately......f him if he's choosing a marketing event over his JOB

I agree....no way that should happen.

WOW..... Screw Olympic Basketball..... You Should already be preparing for surgery on your wrist... But if rose and Deng miss even the first two months of next season, it won't be good for the bulls.....

It sucks but it was also expected. I really don't know why folks are calling it such a big upset when Rose departed in game 1. Deng and Noah were both banged up and Philly isn't just some pushover team. Dallas vs Golden State a few years back......now that was a real upset.

If the Bulls are smart, they will at least consider letting Rose go. This guy is injury prone. Someone will still be willing to give up a lot for him now. If I owned the Bulls I could not take him completely off the table.

Thast why you are just a dumb a** Knick fan....

Exactly... this isn't Dallas in 2007 or San Antonio last season.

2007...

I'm going to go rub the pain out of my groin now.

We all have dreams in life that needs to be fulfilled regardless of who we work for. Having a job doesn't mean signing over your lfe to your employer. I'd say go ahead and live your dream Deng. Postpone the surgery and play in the Olympics. Now if your employer doesn't like that and wants to go the other route with it, it's their perogative....afterall basketball is a freakin civil service.

That is the first comment I have ever read of yours that I have come close to agreeing with.

Deng should play in the Olympics. Nothing wrong with fulfilling a life dream and showing pride in where you are from.

Deng took some chances, he knew he needed surgery earlier in the season but he decided not to because the Bulls had title aspirations and there was a chance it would keep him out of the Olympics. I don't expect Rose back until after the All-Star break roughly 9 months. This is why I am predicting the Eastern Conference to be up for grabs besides Miami next year.
