08:17 AM ET 05.11 | Andy Pettitte is nearly all the way back, to the point he can picture himself back at Yankee Stadium. And when he stands there Sunday afternoon against the Seattle Mariners, the Yankees lefty expects to feel "just a little bit of anxiety" about restarting his pitching career. After all, he's a month shy of his 40th birthday, and it's been 19 months since his last big-league game. "But I'm just really excited to do it again," Pettitte said Thursday via conference call from his Westchester, N.Y., home. "It's the same old story, you want to get that first out behind you, get through that first inning." ... Though his body is still adjusting to the rigors of pitching every fifth day, "I just really believe I'm going to be able to get back where I was."

He could not get people out consistently at A, AA and AAA ball. How is this going to work?

It doesn't look like Andy's comeback is drawing any interest from Yankees fans on this thread.

I believe he can be a decent #4 starter based on his smarts and experience. However, this staff is brutal, so more pressure will be placed on him to lead, which is too much for him at this point.
Biggest problem Yanks have is finding someone, anyone to replace Hughes and possibly Kuroda, who are remarkably, well, unremarkable.

He wasn't there to shut out the minor leaguers, but to work on his pitches and get back into shape.

wouldn't take much to be a decent #4 starter on that staff...if you can walk and chew gum at the same time, you're in the running...
