09:08 AM ET 05.12 | By signing Vince Young to a one-year contract, the Bills now have more security at quarterback if starter Ryan Fitzpatrick goes down. Young, who turns 29 next week, becomes the favorite in a battle with incumbent Tyler Thigpen to win the team's No. 2 QB job.

Just glad he has left Tenn....sorry for anyone who has to deal with his fragile ego.....

Can anybody lay out the Bills' strategy here? Exactly what are they doing? "More security in case Fitzpatrick goes down"? Huh?

Chan Gailey has had success with mobile QB's. As the OC for the Steelers in the mid 90's he was responsible for the some of Kordell Stewarts early success. He won't try to "remake" Vince Young. Just take him for what he is and keep the offense routine and let Vince use his God given talents.

Also use him as a "change of pace QB" opposite of pocket passer Fitzgerald. Could drive DC's nuts.

Where are all those people lining up to make him a starter like ole Andy said? LMAO

May 12, 2012  11:44 AM ET

Because he is the cheapest veteran QB not signed. Because they are the Bills and Bills do what Bills do, they Billsheeeiit all over themselves.

1 year deal to BACK UP the starter. Considering the craptastic FAs that are still out there, there is no reason not to take a flyer on one of the most successful college QBs in history -- and he won a few games as a pro too. **** with your personal hate for the guy... he's fricken 29, not expected to do much, and may only hold a clipboard the whole season. Low risk, high reward if they run the Wildcat, which the Bills toyed with often with Brad Smith -- maybe a QB in college, but not a threat to throw any time he touched the ball. VY can at least keep defenses honest during that play.

I'm with you. Thigpen is a pretty good QB.

To Play Quarterback, Jests sign Tebow, Bills Follow with Young, Follow The Leader!!!

VY will bring the mean wonderlic score for Bills QBs back to the league average.

May 12, 2012  03:48 PM ET

Hey, less pressure in Buffalo - maybe - MAYBE, he can turn things around.

I hope they hired a psychiatrist at the same time.
