Ryan on outside of Jets' 'Hard Knocks' decision?

08:44 AM ET 05.13 | If the Jets aren't making a return to HBO's "Hard Knocks" this summer, someone apparently forgot to tell their coach. Rex Ryan was asked Saturday morning at the Alliance for Lupus Research's annual New Jersey Walk With Us to Cure Lupus at MetLife Stadium why the Jets would not be appearing on the show, and it appears the verbose Jets coach was unaware that a decision had been made regarding the team's participation. "Whatever," he said, before stumbling on his words for a moment. He then added: "This is news to me, so that's fine." On Thursday, TV sources told The Daily News that Gang Green will not be making a reappearance on the popular HBO show. When asked if that was good news, Ryan said: "It doesn't matter to me. We're getting ready to get our team ready to play the 2012 season."

I'm surprised. Making his team the center of attention has worked out so well for him so far.

What's more newsworthy is that Rex walks.
But does he sit, heel, and roll over; that's what I want to know.
I think you could make a case for rolling over- they are the Jets, after all!

Seems like there's a communication problem in the organization...Surprise! Thought this decision had been made over a week; wasn't there a thread here about it already?

Is 'Hard Knocks' asking the Jets if they really, really mean that the don't want to be on, or did they only sorta mean that they didn't want to be on? Or are the interns recycling stories? This one just doesn't seem to die.

If there isn't one now there will be soon, if he doesn't win this year (playoffs) he's gone, no matter how much the Owner loves his Alter Ego!!

Jets fans might argue against that, but I agree that Rex is on a very short leash right now.

That's too bad. He rolled with some greats there. I don't know much about Booker T and the MGs other than Green Onion. Blues Bros and Clapton speak for themselves.

I can't disagree with including Tannenbaum, but seems like GMs are able to stay around longer than their shelf life would normally allow. A.J. Smith still has his job in San Diego, and the Bears only got rid of Jerry Angelo a few months ago. Heck, Tom Benson hasn't fire Mickey Loomis yet, and Loomis should have been tossed as soon as the bounty scandal details went public.
