Raptors want Nash or Lin

08:24 AM ET 05.13 | Toronto will be in direct competition with the Knicks for Steve Nash. But Nash is expected to look to sign with a bona fide contender, and the Knicks and Raptors don't fit that description. The Raptors are also a potential landing spot for Jeremy Lin. They like him and what he'd do for their attendance, but Toronto would have to "back-load" an offer to the restricted free agent, paying him gazillions in the final couple of years of a deal, and hope that the Knicks would not match. According to league sources, that's what the Raptors just might do if their Nash plan falls through.

At this point, I mean the Raptors needs to do anything including giving away big money to get free agent. Personally I would prefer Lin over Nash because of age. But you it is not going to happen because the Knicks need a PG so badly

And I want $60 million dollars. I'm not about to get that and the Raptors aren't getting either of them.

If the Raptors do offer a contract backloaded with cash for Lin, the Knicks would be foolish to match. They would further create additional cap nightmares and trust me, they've already stopped movements via quality stars coming to New York with the Chandler, Stat and Melo contracts. If this happens, let Lin walk.

Look Lin had some quality moments and INJURY this past year granted, but he has not shown that he's worth further cap damage for the already cap damaged Knicks.

Lastly, I'm inclined to agree with Stephen A and Skip Bayless assessment of: Why does Lin get a pass on not playing with an injury?.....i.g. Ray & Paul, Al Horford, Stat, Griffin and Paul and a host of others..........exactly why is that?

Let's see, Lin had surgery and besides Horford the others didn't. And Horford sat out pretty much the whole year. The others were on teams that had a chance of getting to the second round except for Stat and he just had stitches in his hand. Lin torn acl, Horford torn shoulder muscle, Paul strained groin, Allen bad foot, Stat cut hand, Grifin hyperextended knee.Any idiot can see a serious injury in this group.

Lin does not have a contract for next year, who would take a chance on reinjuring a knee in a year when they don't have a contract? Anyone, anyone?

If the Heat don't win it all that's where Nash will go (he might end up there anyways) you can carve it in stone

Raptors has to be the worst nickname in sports.

Nope;I think tthat distinction would go to the Buckeyes.

As much as some fans love it, and it has become part of football history and tradition, having a nickname of the "Browns" is bad. "Texans" is terrible. "Rockies" is bad too. As to college, the Tulsa "Golden Hurricane" makes no sense. What is golden about a hurricane? And why is a team in Oklahoma named hurricane?

The only thing you can carve in stone is that the Knicks will make the wrong decision. S.Smith is an idiot who gets attention/job because he yells.

Is Calderon going to be a free agent or something? Seems weird that the Raptors want to fill the only position where they DON'T have a hole...

As the article said Lin would just be to sell tickets because of the hype he produced this year. I dont think he will be better especially in Toronto when they have lesser talents so the defense can concentrate on him.

Lakers should go after Nash.

It actually makes a TON of sense for Lin to want to be traded to the Raptors. Several reasons as well. First off, Toronto has one of the most diverse cities as far as ethnicity goes. Several people from Asia, Europe and South America move to live better lives in Canada. There are also a lot of Chinese, Taiwanese in the Capital. It is also cheaper to live than in New York, and the Raptors have a lot more money and a better team for a young PG to be built around by. They have no real selfish players on that team (kinda excluding Derozan here), but still are fairly young and are in need of a much better effort from their fans to pack the building. Toronto is the 4th most populated city in North America only behind Mexico City, New York City, and Los Angeles. They have been in the top 10 or top 12 in attendance in recent years, however with all of the immigration, there will obviously be a lot of fans rooting for the other team such as the Lakers or Heat. But i think Lin can bring good fortune to this struggling franchise.
