Na defends worrisome waggle

10:44 AM ET 05.13 | After three rounds of The Players, Kevin Na has the fewest strokes, by one, and the most waggles, by about 500. A gun-hating liberal probably has an easier time pulling the trigger. Na shot 68 Saturday at TPC Sawgrass. But people seemed to spend more time counting his long waggles, short waggles and whiff-like swings when stepping out of address than his number of strokes. Na and playing competitor Zach Johnson were put on the clock on the 10th tee and taken off on the 17th tee. In between, Na got a bad time when hitting his second shot on No. 16. Two bad times in a round call for a one-stroke penalty, though the PGA Tour hands those out like manhole covers. The last player to be docked strokes for dallying was Dillard Pruitt at the 1992 Byron Nelson. To his credit, Na knows he has a problem. He says it stems from his inability to get comfortable over the ball since he changed swing coaches in the spring of 2011. "Because my balance at the setup is totally different, I don't feel comfortable," he said. "I'm trying to get comfortable with my waggles." He wants his routine to go like this: little waggle, half waggle, little waggle, half waggle, go. But when it goes longer, he said, "there's a lot going on in my head."

This kid's always been a head case...so what else's new.

Will he win? Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

Na hasn't been the same mentally since he set a PGA Tour record last year when he shot a 12-over-par 16 on the ninth hole of the Valero Texas Open.

Ben Crane told Na to hurry it up a little...

Watching Na play the first couple of holes yesterday, I just knew that he wouldn't be able to hold on to the lead. How does a guy who is so indecisive over the ball even become a professional?

Congrats to Matt Kuchar on win #4.

I'm just glad Carlton Fisk wasn't his caddie. That's a receipe for a 6 hour round of golf.

He's the polar opposite of Na.

Yeah he is. He takes a look, steps up, addresses the ball and hits it. Nice easy swing too, reminds a bit of Ernie Els.

Canuck and Harry, we are fast approaching the U.S. Open. Time to start thinking about your choice for victory

I watched Kuch at the match play event earlier in the year and he did well. He's been in a pretty good zone all year so I think he has a good chance at the Open. BTW, has anyone heard of Dustin Johnson this year? Seems like he just disappeared.

He hurt his back right before the Masters lifting a jet ski out of the water and hasn't played since.

I remember that now. He must have hurt it worse than I thought. Too bad, I like watching him play. I'd love to see him paired with Bubba as they try to out drive each other.

He hasn't given any indication either as to when he'll be back playing.

There are more liberals who served their country than all the Ted Nugent wackos that you could fill the Grand Canyon with. I'm liberal, and I don't hate guns. We could categorize the guy that wrote this column as your run-of-the-mill pea-brain. There are so many of them, unfortunately.
