08:14 AM ET 05.14 | Boston's Daisuke Matsuzaka will now make only two more Class AAA rehab starts before being called up to the Red Sox starting rotation. The right-hander, who had Tommy John surgery on his right elbow in June 2011, is scheduled to start for the PawSox on May 17 and May 22 before his rehab assignment expires on May 23. Matsuzaka made his fourth minor league start on Saturday in Pawtucket, working 5 1/3 innings. He allowed five runs on seven hits, including two home runs. ... He threw 90 pitches, including 54 for strikes. Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine watched the game tape of Matsuzaka's outing and it was clear to the manager that Matsuzaka needs some more time. "I didn't think he was as good as he should be," Valentine admitted.

The question will be who does Valentine bump from the rotation to make room for Dice K's return?

You would be surprised. He pitched great last year until he rolled his ankle in late August. And other than 2 terrible starts, he has pitched decent this year. He's just worn out his welcome in Boston.

Beckett looks like the best choice. Too bad it won't happen.

Found this - as a side note.... MLB is really flailing right now on thier "enhanced" drug testing program....
NEW YORK ??? A person familiar with the decision says Major League Baseball has dropped its 100-game suspension of Colorado Rockies catcher Eliezer Alfonzo for a positive drug test because of the same procedural issues that came up in the Ryan Braun case.
Alfonzo is eligible to play immediately, according to the person, who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Sunday night because no announcement had been made.
Mostly a backup during six major league seasons, Alfonzo become the first player suspended twice for performance-enhancing drugs under the MLB testing program when the commissioner's office announced a 100-game penalty last September.
The person says Alfonzo is at home in Venezuela and is under contract with Rockies' Triple-A affiliate, Colorado Springs.

A lot can happen in another week and with the on and off way the starters have been there is no sure answer to what they'll do with him. I keep thinking back to 2010 when they were supposed to have 7 starters including Penny and Smoltz and in the end they were still looking for more pitching.

One of the crappy pitchers currently in the rotation. Pick from a few.

Sounds like he can step right in now to the rotation and add to the mediocrity of it.

Gotta wait for the next series against Cleveland so they can ease him in against a crappy team.
