Giants want lightning-rod Belt to make some changes

08:11 AM ET 05.14 | Bruce Bochy rolled the dice Sunday with Charlie Culberson, Joaquin Arias, Gregor Blanco, Hector Sanchez, Brandon Crawford and Brett Pill -- the latter filling the role that otherwise might be filled by Brandon Belt. Belt's average is much nicer on the scoreboard. But he hasn't hit a home run, two of his five doubles have been bloop jobs and he's driven in six runs all season. This is what the Giants are talking about when they mention moving Belt back in the box and standing him up taller. They want him to be in position to drive the fastball. They want him to do damage, not just get his hits. That's what a first baseman does. They want Belt to make the transition that Pill did as a minor leaguer.

So.... Belt sits because he simply hits for average? The Giants want to turn him into a 20 HR threat that bats .250 and it seems he would like to be a guy who hits .300.

Trade him.

That park seems to be the place where bats go to die (except Posey). Seems a little early to be (again) ragging on Belt. What's with Bochy and the kid?

I'd prefer - what a 19 year old kid Harper is turning out to be. No one - can question his passion - but he needs to go to college and work on his physics background a little. Of course the way bats are exploding right now - I bet he thought it would just break apart rather than bounce back... ;-)

I guess the question is, "What do people call Angel Pagan when they get his name wrong?"

If they're serious about the kid they need to give him regular playing time. If they're not then they need to stop yanking his chain and trade him. Sporadic playing time won't allow him to develop or mature.
