08:05 AM ET 05.15 | Mike Krzyzewski said Monday at a U.S. Olympic Committee Media Summit in Dallas that when the 2012 Olympic flame goes out, so will he. USA Basketball needs a proven winner who has energy, time, cache, media savvy and (most important) expertise in winning tournament games with a quick turnaround. Tom Izzo, is that you? "I'm not sure I would even have a shot at it, to be honest with you," Izzo said Monday. ... Maybe Doc Rivers thinks he can do it, and he takes the job. But what if USA basketball czar Jerry Colangelo decides he needs a bigger commitment than a pro coach can give? Colangelo has some interesting options. If Gregg Popovich retires as Spurs coach, he would be a perfect choice: Air Force veteran and four-time NBA championship.

Who cares who coach this team?............with the talent of these NBA players, if they elect to go and they win......trust me, it won't because of who's the coach. Durant, Wade, Lebron, Kobe, Howard, Noah, Westbrook, Melo, Love, Pierce, Williams, Rondo just to name a few, if they elect to go. The coach is really irrelevant.

QUOTE(#9):

Come on man. You can't be serious. Have you forgotten about that great bronze we brought home a few years back when suitcase Larry Brown was at the helm?

You're kindly forgetting that most of the superstars elected not to go and then after being bombarded with disdain and pressure from the american public about sending sub par players to represent us and then being embarrass as a result of this practice, only then, and I say only then did the NBA superstars start to participate again. Trust me, if the players I mentioned elect to participate, you will be in the very minority who would actually believe that a country other than the US would win this event and that my friend is the absoute truth. you can't get around that!

It matters who is the coach. First of all, Rondo and Pierce are not even on the list. Noah? Ask the 2004 Olympic and 2002 World Teams to see that unless we send our best , we will not win Gold. The world has caught up and Coach K and Colangelo knew exactly what it took to get us back on top.
