College snub still fuels Paul

08:07 AM ET 05.15 | Chris Paul, who grew up a Tar Heels fan, would have loved playing at UNC -- until the snub. [Matt Doherty] was the Tar Heels' coach at the time. Doherty told Paul there might be a spot for him after the season. Apparently, he'd offered his last available scholarship and the chosen one was undecided. "But there's definitely room on my team for you as a walk-on," Paul recalls Doherty generously informing him. Paul escorted 26-4 Forsyth to the state semifinals. Shortly thereafter, Doherty offered him that precious scholarship he had yearned for as long as he could remember. "I had waited patiently for that day to come," Paul said. ... "As soon as it was offered, I called coach [Skip Prosser] and committed to Wake Forest."

Bitter Much, Bro?

...and then in '05 the Atlanta Hawks passed on Paul and take Marvin Williams. The Hawks have needed a point guard every since. The Hawks might not be fishing if they had been smarter.

I hope the Clippers beat the tar out of the Spurms. I know its not likely to happen, but I can hope. I'm worried about my Lakers. They don't look good.

I expected OKC to have fresher legs and take gm1 at home. Lakers have to get their legs back and go to work tomorrow, and it doesnt get any better when they will have to play back to back games in this series which is rare. They have no answer for Mr. Kobe 2.0 AKA Russelll Westbrookkkkkk!!!!!!!

UNC is an evil and honorless regime. Chris Paul should be happy he didn't end up there.

If he really wanted to play for UNC, he would've taken the scholarship when it was offered. Sounds like a manufactured story on Paul's part to me. The "walk on" conversation was probably more along the lines of Doherty saying he didn't have any available scholarships and that Paul could walk on the first year and then be on scholarship as a sophomore. That wasn't an extremely uncommon practice. I don't dislike Paul, but he probably should worry about his professional career and what he's doing now over a supposed slight when he was a high school recruit.

As I recall, Raymond Felton was the number 1 ranked PG in the country and the national high school player of the year. UNC had already signed him. Chris Paul was the odd man out! Did Chris Paul turn out to be the better player? Yes! But UNC won a national championship with Felton!

Lakers too a spanking last night like Delonte did it... They need to slow down the pace of the game and pound the youthful Oklahoma boys inside. I don't know what Brown is thinking but Kobe's gotta recognize this is not his series. This is the big boys series. Let Bynum, Gasol and Artest get to work.. Punish OKC inside... anything less than that Lakers will get swept...

Chris it really don't matter where you played. You would have left just as soon as you could and never look back and never graduated anywhere.
