08:29 AM ET 05.15 | Alex Ovechkin compared his ex-coach Dale Hunter to an old coach from his days in Russia, but a new day will dawn soon for No. 8. "I don't know who's going to be the coach next year but the leaders in this group have to be together and don't look, you know. ... I don't know how to explain better, but sometimes you don't have to be jealous," he said. "I don't want to say it was a jealous situation for us, but sometimes you just have to be a group together." Ovechkin was then asked to clarify his comment about jealousy. "I don't want to say persons, I don't want to say situations, but sometimes you just know like, some guys, if you didn't play well they just look at you like, you know," he said. "Of course, you can see it."

If I reading this correctly, is Ovechkin preaching teamwork? Sure seems to be. If he is...good for him

May 15, 2012  09:03 AM ET

Can anyone tell what is in Ovechkin's mind?

It sounds that way, but it also seems like he was the one that wasn't playing well and everyone was looking at him. Probably with that look that said, you're the captain, your making twice what anyone else is making and your playing like a third liner. Sounds like it stung a little.

I don't know like what this means you know. I don't like, you know, see it. I guess it's like good. Unless, you know, like it's not? Maybe. Nyet?

Would someone please translate?

I think I'm going to give up trying to pin down Ovie. You're right, he was out there busting his butt when everyone else was hurt, but . . . .

Alex - you have been in the United States since 2005. In 7 years, don't you think you would have benefited from taking some classes in English? I hate hearing this guy talk. How can the NHL market this crap when you have no clue what he's talking about?!?!

His commercials are comic because he's a goof who can't speak clearly. Take a page out of the Zdeno Chara book and go to school.

Some guys revert back to their pigeon English when it's convenient.

Gabby Johnson is right. And said in real Ovechkin gibberish too.

May 15, 2012  09:58 AM ET

That's this biggest bunch of marble-mouthed gibberish I've read in quite some time.

Of course I didn't understand a single bit of this, but my feel was the opposite. The first thing I thought was "Oh no, Alex didn't learn a thing about teamwork." You bring up jealousy you're not normally talking about what you are jealous of, but rather how others are jealous.
